Dry Skin. The Ultimate Guide To Treating Dry Skin
Having problems with dry skin? We know exactly how you may feel and how irritating it can be and because of this we have compiled a list of amazing skincare and expert advice on managing dry skin!
How To Tell If You Have Dry Skin
Dry skin is typically dull, rough, flaky and sometimes even scaly and it often feels tight or less elastic. A quick easy way to tell if you have dry skin is if you wash your face, wait about 15 minutes, and if it's dry or cracked then that means you have dry skin. We know how annoying it can be because if dry skin is not properly taken care of, it can sometimes lead to itchiness and redness. But don’t worry! To save you from experiencing this, we have listed our top dos and don’ts for dry skin that you can follow.
Dry Skin Do’s
Do moisturize and cleanse daily - Your skin deserves the perfect protection and The Creme de La Mer, is excellent for dry skin. It is a rich cream that soothes your skin and helps heal dryness. Use this every morning and night to defend your skin from dryness! Aside from moisturizing your skin every day, an essential step is to choose the right cleanser. The Cle De Peau Beaute Micellar Cleansing Water leaves your skin fresh and clean. It tones and hydrates the skin in just one step. It is boosted with Hyaluronic Acid to keep skin moisturized. Pro tip: make sure your skin is damp before putting on moisturizer to lock in all the moisture.
Do wear sunscreen - Oh sweet shiny sun, we know it can be our best friend but also our worst enemy when it comes to skin. Spending too much time in direct sunlight can make your skin dry (among other bad things) which is why it is extremely important to apply sunscreen on a daily basis. The Clé de Peau Beauté Uv Protective Cream Broad Spectrum Spf 50+ provides daily sun protection while hydrating. It conditions your skin with moisturizing hyaluronic acid and smoothing brilliant oil, as well as antioxidant-rich botanicals.
Do wear lip balm - Do choose a lip balm that feels good on your lips, a good one that we love is the Sisley-Paris Nutritive Lip Balm. It has excellent repairing benefits and it is a true best friend when it comes to cracked, dry and chapped lips. It has a combination of essential oils such as; hazelnut, plum kernel, sunflower, shea butter and kokum which are crucial ingredients to combating dryness. This formula is free of artificial colouring and fragrance, ensuring optimal tolerance for your lips.
Do choose the right makeup - If you have dry skin, skipping powder products and instead reaching out for cream formulas might be the trick. This can change your skin from drawing attention to flaky and fine lines to a dewy and healthy look. If you’re not sure where to start from, you can start by switching to a tinted moisturizer that enhances your skin tone. An excellent choice is the Tom Ford Glow Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15. Not only does it already have sunscreen but it also provides a healthy glow to the skin. You can also look for cream-based blushes instead of powder ones. One of our favorites is the Chantecaille Cheek Gelee Happy. It is a hydrating gel-cream blush that combines the freshness of an emulsion with the lasting power of a stain.
Do use a humidifier - Humidifiers are not only good for your skin but they can also have a positive impact on the body’s overall hydration, especially in drier months and places. Place one in the rooms you frequent the most to ensure your skin is never dry. It improves the air quality in your home and will prevent all the flakiness we don’t want!
Dry Skin Don'ts
Don't forget to hydrate your hands - We love keeping our purse stashed with hand cream so that we can moisturize on the go. Use the Augustinus Bader The Hand Treatment to nourish and hydrate dry, chapped and overwashed hands. It has a fast-absorbing formula that leaves you feeling soft, supple, and hydrated. It also supports improved elasticity and smoothness and reduces the appearance of aging and scarring. Your hands will thank you for it and they’ll look amazing during the holidays with your fresh manicure!
Don’t avoid exfoliation - Whoever said you should skip exfoliation is wrong! You just have to find the right product for you and not overdo it. One that we recommend is the Omorovicza Acid Solution and once a week might be all you need for dry skin. It is an innovative liquid exfoliator that combines a potent blend of acids that clarifies, brightens, and refines to revive dull complexions. Opting for a chemical exfoliant like this rather than a harsh physical exfoliant like a scrub will be more beneficial for you, leaving your skin smooth and glowing.
Don't skip serums - If you have dry skin, don’t skip out on facial serum! Using the right facial serum will help keep your skin hydrated. Especially if you use a serum that’s formulated with hyaluronic acid, like the Dr. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum. This serum functions as a super booster against dryness and wrinkles. It has an instant effect - tangibly firmer, intensively hydrated skin that leaves you looking refreshed and radiant.
Don’t skip on your sleep - Stress and lack of sleep? Trust us we know all about it. Having good sleep is essential for the body and skin to enter “repair mode” and balance itself out the next day. Not only will you be in a better mood but your skin will thank you for it. The Slip The Beauty Sleep Set is designed to reduce tugging and creasing of the delicate skin on your face. It is the perfect set for a good beauty sleep!
It can be hard to take care of dry skin during colder, drier months but hopefully these do’s and don’ts are a great way for you to learn how to manage it. Just remember to take care of your skin and pick the hydrating products that are right for you!
