1. How can you achieve a radiant complexion for a summer wedding using Chantecaille’s latest collection?
Any great makeup look begins with great skincare to set the stage! Make sure that your skin has been properly exfoliated to remove any dry and scaly patches that would affect the smoothness of the complexion. Use a light serum and moisturizer to soften the contours of the eyes and lips using a very gentle application.
If your wedding will be taking place outdoors, it’s important to wear cosmetic formulas that are weightless as you don’t want to create a heavy-feeling layer of cosmetics when you’re about to spend the best day of your life under the sun.
Lastly, before you begin your makeup application make sure to use a primer-sunscreen which not only does the double duty ensuring that your makeup stays put and goes on evenly, but also protects you from the damaging effects of sun exposure.
My favorite go-to’s to prep the skin for that special day are Chantecaille’s Hibiscus Smoothing Mask to exfoliate the skin (extremely gentle and non-abrasive!), then a quick spritz of pure rose water to revitalize and awaken the skin, followed by the 24K Gold Face Serum and a light layer of the 24K Gold Firming Moisturizer. This combo is the most luxurious way to perfectly hydrate and create a stunningly glowy canvas that I’ve ever found!
As for the perfect sunscreen/primer combo, I love the Ultra Sun Protection SPF 45 Primer because it is oil-free, extremely light weight and most importantly clear and without any flashback! The last thing you want is to have a white mask in pictures because of reflective sunblocks.
2. How can the new Just Skin Tinted Moisturizer be added in a wedding look?
Once your canvas has been properly prepared for makeup, you want to start creating a base that is light, dewy and with coverage, it sounds like an impossible task for just one product to achieve but that is exactly why Chantecaille created the Just Skin Tinted Moisturizer. Make sure you select a shade that is exactly your depth and undertone and don’t be afraid to use it generously as this will only create a complexion that is even, weightless and imperceptible.
I love the glow that Just Skin gives the complexion, but to maximize the wattage of its radiance, I love mixing a drop of the Liquid Lumiere, a gel highlighter elixir in the pearly Sheen or a golden Brilliance, which gives an overall finish that is truly out of this world.
I usually apply a mix of the 2 with a medium size blush brush as I find that it buffs the products evenly and flawlessly into the skin.
3. What products do you recommend for a bronzed glow?
Liquid or gel skin tints or bronzers are a great way to warm up your complexion while maintaining that gorgeous overall healthy glow. Simply mixing a drop or two of a liquid bronzer with the foundation or tinted moisturizer will give you a subtly warmer shade which you can adjust to your liking. If you want to have a more controlled warmth, you can also apply the gel bronzer on top (using a brush, a sponge, or even your hands, after you’ve perfected your foundation) only to those areas that you want to add a bit of depth.
One of my all-time favorite fool-proof products that I like to use to warm up the skin and illuminate the face in the most natural way is Chantecaille’s Radiance Gel Bronzer. This golden-brown gel will give you that sunset glow as if you’ve just come back from vacationing in St. Tropez.
I also like to mix the gel bronzer with a dollop of body cream and gently even out and awaken the skin around the neck, shoulders and decollate!
If gel bronzers are not within your comfort zone, you can also try the liquid contour approach with the Sheer Glow Bronze Face Tint. This is my go-to for that translucent liquid contour that is super easy to use: simply use a pearl size amount, emulsify/melt between the palms of your hand and part into the perimeter of your face and hairline, under the cheek bones and on the sides of your nose.
4. Do you have any tips and tricks on ensuring makeup looks fresh and not cakey in the summer heat?
I’ve never been a fan of an overly powdered or over-worked makeup, so I encourage everyone to always start with a minimal application of fluid or gel based products and only use powders if you truly need them as they can very easily build up a heavy finish to the look and create that cakey look and feel that nobody likes.
If you need to apply a setting powder, stick to either a translucent loose or compact powder that is completely colorless, imperceptible and extremely finely milled so that it won’t change the color of your already perfected look or add any weight due to the heaviness of the pigment particles within the powders; my favorites are the HD Compact Powder and Loose Powder
Thank you Fernando Cadavid for your summer wedding glam tips and tricks that can survive the heat and leave you flawless, bronze and glowing!
